A notch filter, also known as a band-stop or band-reject filter, is an optical or electronic filter that blocks (or “rejects”) a narrow band of wavelengths or frequencies while allowing others to pass through. In optical applications, notch filters are used to selectively block specific wavelengths of light, such as a laser line, while transmitting nearby wavelengths.
